Information Technology Teacher
Overview
Taught Information Technology in a regional Queensland state high school. Also managed the school's web presence, social media platforms, and marketing materials.
My first full-time teaching position. Emerald is a mining town in Central Queensland, and the school served a community with strong practical values. Teaching IT here meant making technology relevant and engaging for students who often saw their futures in trades and resources.
Beyond the classroom, I managed the school's website, social media, and marketing materials. Wearing multiple hats was expected in a regional school, and it turned out to be good preparation for every role that followed.
Regional teaching also taught me about resilience and community. Resources were limited, distances were significant, and you relied on colleagues more than you would in a city school. It was formative.
