Secondary Digital Technologies Teacher
Overview
Taught Digital Technologies across Years 7 to 12 at one of the Gold Coast's largest state secondary schools. Developed ATAR resources, assessment items, and contributed to broader school operations including NAPLAN facilitation and pastoral care.
Varsity College was where I sharpened my skills as a secondary Digital Technologies specialist. The school's size and diversity meant working with students across a wide range of abilities and backgrounds, which pushed me to differentiate more effectively and think harder about engagement.
I developed a range of ATAR-level resources and assessment items during this time, many of which I continued to refine in later roles. I also took on responsibilities beyond the classroom, including NAPLAN facilitation, pastoral care, and contributing to the school's promotional materials.
Varsity College was also where I started thinking seriously about leadership. Watching how departments were run, spotting the gaps, and putting my hand up for coordination tasks gave me the confidence to go for my first HoD position shortly after.
