Overview
Led the Information Technology department before the role expanded into the broader Technology portfolio. Focused on curriculum design, endorsed assessment, and building a professional development culture around digital pedagogy.
My first Head of Department appointment and the foundation for everything that followed. I inherited a department with good bones but inconsistent curriculum documentation and limited staff development structures.
Over two years, I rebuilt the Digital Solutions curriculum from scratch, wrote endorsed assessment items, and introduced structured professional development sessions for staff. The goal was always practical: give teachers tools and frameworks they could use immediately.
This role also gave me my first real exposure to departmental operations, including budget management, timetabling, and navigating school governance structures. It was a steep learning curve, and the groundwork it laid made the move into the expanded Technology role much easier.
